About the Role: Vagaro is seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our dynamic team and work closely with our Machine Learning and Business Intelligence teams to build robust data solutions. As a data engineer at Vagaro, you will play a crucial role in migrating data from traditional data warehouses to Microsoft Fabric. You will be responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling seamless data integration across various platforms. Your work will directly support our Machine Learning and Business Intelligence teams, helping them to derive actionable insights and drive business decisions.

*This is an onsite position based in Pleasanton, CA.*

Your Impact:

  • Data Migration:
    • Lead the migration of data from traditional data warehouses to Microsoft Fabric.
    • Design and implement data models and schemas in Microsoft Fabric.
    • Ensure data integrity and consistency during the migration process.
  • Pipeline Development:
    • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from various sources.
    • Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues to ensure smooth operation.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Machine Learning team to provide the necessary data infrastructure for model training and deployment.
    • Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to ensure data availability and accessibility for reporting and visualization.
    • Partner with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Data Management:
    • Implement data governance and best practices for data management.
    • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and security across all data platforms.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, processes, and architectures.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering.
    • Propose and implement improvements to existing data infrastructure and processes.
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What Your Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3- 4 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with data migration projects, preferably to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong experience with ETL/ELT tools and processes.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling and schema design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and big data technologies.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, particularly PowerBI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and its ecosystem (preferred).
  • Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices (preferred).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) (preferred).
